Invocation
A downloadable game for Windows
Invocation is a First-Person Ghost Photography Simulator. Play as a paranormal investigator and explore haunted locations across the town of Echo Canyon. This game is currently in active development, the build attached to this page is a demo which takes between 15-30 minutes to complete.
Follow the story of Sarah, a young girl with a talent for investigating supernatural phenomena. Sarah makes a living by photographing ghosts for clients who believe that their properties are haunted. In this demo, Sarah investigates the Blackwell House, believed to be haunted by the ghost of the house's previous owner, Mrs. Morley.
The objective of this demo is to take eight photographs of the ghost of Mrs. Morley, who hides in several different rooms of the house. The ghost can only be seen through the viewfinder of the player's camera. The player will sometimes need to solve environmental puzzles in order for the ghost to appear.
This demo features the following:
- An immersive level for the player to explore.
- A photography gameplay system.
- A retro, PSX visual style.
- Custom-made low poly 3D assets.
- Atmospheric sound design.

This was a nice little spooky game! I really appreciate how it was all your own original art. The consistent color palette and textures all throughout it gave the game a pleasant and unique feel. I like the gameplay you have going on with doing weird tasks around the house to try to bring out the ghost, with the letters giving you hints. I think making these tasks progressively more complicated would be fun. I noticed some things change around the house as you collect more photos, such as the TV turning on, those were nice additions and think more stuff like that would help give a better feeling of progression
Here's a few random points:
- The player controller feels very 'sticky', as in any time you nudge into something you come to a complete stop. I think Unity has some kind of 'friction' setting to let you slide instead of stick that would help smooth things out a lot
- The subtle ambient sounds like the rattling, knocking, and breathing were a bit too quiet, especially if you play on speakers. I had to put headphones on to even notice they were happening. I think they should be boosted up a bit, because they add a lot to the atmosphere
- I'm very grateful that you chose to not make the scare noise deafeningly loud, my ears thank you!
- Holding Tab in order to check how many more photos you need felt kind of unconventional to me. I don't think the average player would think to be checking Tab. It feels like something that should just be on the screen at all times, or else maybe just shown on the Right Click camera HUD instead? When you successfully take a photo, I think it should appear on its own with a sound or something so you know you did it right
Keep up the great work! I look forward to whatever else you have planned
Very good game
Thank you!
scary
Thank you for playing!
Good game actually, but I can spam RMB + LMB and will take a photo and will not be scared, you can add same delay for photos, good job
Good catch! I’ll make an update for that soon. Thank you!
